about

Alessandro Albert, born in Turin in 1965.
Interested in photography from an early age, probably dued to his failures in team sports, and restive towards schools and courses, he is a self thought photographer.
At 17 during a party, his communication difficulties lead him to get closer to Paolo Verzone, also there acting as part of the furniture. Thus friendship and jointly photographic projects are born: influenced by Avedon’s work, in 1991 they go to Moscow to portray its citizens, this body of work will be published by Peliti&Associati in the book “Volti di Passaggio ”; in 2001 they are awarded third prize in the Portrait Singles category of the World Press Photo contest.
Photographs everything with in shooting distance, but is specialized in portraits; doesn’t like long term projects and a routinized photographic style. Avoiding challenges he has decided to dedicate himself to what is far from his nature and to capture what generally is impossible to photograph.
Travels with resignation and no enthusiasm and works on his own chaotic artistic projects with no structure -he’s convinced that one day they will eventually take form-.
Member of Grazia Neri agency for many years, he has collaborated with many important firms such as Lavazza, Finmeccanica, Ferrari, ITT e Telecom, White&Case. His portraits have been published in magazines like Vanity Fair, GQ, Financial Times, Times, Wired, Forbes.
He is currently a teacher at IED both in Turin and Milan and Leica Akademie. He is represented by Getty Images and Verbatim and Certified by Leica
